Black Community Control of the Police!: A BLACK POWER Demand

June 5, 2016 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Free
The International People’s Democratic Uhuru Movement (InPDUM) will be hosting an event entitled “Black Community Control of the Police!: A BLACK POWER Demand” at Legacy Books & Cafe, located at 5249 Delmar Blvd, St. Louis, MO 63108.InPDUM understands that the police are a terrorizing, occupying force in the African/Black community.

At this event we will win the people to understanding the origin, nature, and function of the police state and the history of violence it has inflicted upon African and other colonized peoples in the United States.

The cases of Cary Ball Jr, Mike Brown, Vonderrit Myers Jr., Jorevis Scruggs, and those of so many more Africans who we’ve lost to police terrorism underscore the need for our community to have control over those who police us.

The keynote speaker will be Chairman Omali Yeshitela, African People’s Socialist Party.

The event will also feature a panel of families whose children have been murdered by the police. Presently, we have confirmed the following guest speakers:

Yashica Clemmons, mother of Dominique Battles who was one of three teenage girls murdered/drowned by Pinellas County Sheriffs in Florida on March 31, 2016.

Toni Taylor, mother of Cary Ball who was murdered on April 24, 2013 by two St. Louis police after surrendering with his hands up.
